Owned and managed by Rod and Tracy Weeks, Bush Lodge is one of the properties within the Eastern Cape’s Amakhala Game Reserve, 75 kilometres from Port Elizabeth and near Addo Elephant National Park.

Bush Lodge – An historic inn that once provided rest and a safe haven for the “Mail Wagon” travelers and was restored to 4 star standards.

Bush Lodge demonstrates commitment to operating in a sustainable and responsible manner in a number of ways including collaboration with other Amakhala properties on conservation and socio-economic development initiatives. Priority areas under the Amakhala Social Development Programme include: HIV/Aids education and awareness raising for staff, their families and the local community; support for the nearby Isipho HIV/Aids orphanage; environmental training and education through the Amakhala Conservation Centre and the “3Cs” (Carbon – Community – Conservation) programme; as well as support to local schools. Bush Lodge also makes a concerted effort to purchase as much as possible from the local area, maximising the benefits of tourism for the local economy.

“It is overwhelming to be certified by FTTSA; it is a simple, credible way of letting people know that you are operating as a responsible tourism operation,” says Tracy Weeks, Owner and Director of Bush Lodge
