Experience a Taste of Cape Malay Culture with andulela
Cape Malay Cooking Safari is a truly special Cape experience, and a model example of the Andulela philosophy of giving back to the communities that welcome us. A number of home businesses have sprouted up in this area as a direct result of the interest generated by this unique tour.
For andulela Experience, a small company facilitating day tours in and around Cape Town, responsible tourism means sharing South Africa’s natural and cultural riches while contributing positively to communities and environments affected by tourism. Learn how to mix Masala, fold Samoosas, and how to balance the delicate flavours of a Cape Malay curry on adulela’s Cape Malay Cooking Safari. This “hands-on”, informal cooking workshop celebrates recipes that have been passed through generations.
Andulela Experience works with many service providers and families in the areas where its activities take place, to distribute the benefits of tourism as widely as possible and to build business linkages that diversify household income steams. Andulela also provides business and product development support by offering community-based service providers technical assistance and mentorship.
Commenting on andulela Experience’s achievement, FTTSA Executive Director, Jennifer Seif stated that “andulela’s three FTTSA-certified activities offer a window on everyday life in Cape Town’s historic Bo-Kaap while also opening doors of opportunity for the people who live there.” |
