A unique combination of warmth, luxury and wild African beauty makes Djuma Game Reserve unlike any other place in the world. Djuma - meaning "roar of the lion" in Shangaan - is set in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, part of the greater Kruger National Park. Djuma's staff strive to show their guests the magic of Africa by leaving its natural beauty untouched while strengthening and showcasing its dynamic cultural complexity.
As well as offering exceptional service in a breathtaking setting, Djuma has shown a consistent commitment to promoting community development and poverty alleviation. This is evident in the many programmes Djuma has developed that champion local socio-economic development, such as its support to Buffelshoek Education Trust in building two local primary schools and a media training centre for disadvantaged communities.
Projects like the N'wa Tumberi Day Care Centre are an inspiration to see and showcase how the Djuma and Shangaan communities reach across to one another, realising their shared vision - to conserve the land for future generations, in a way that benefits the wider community.
Djuma has excelled in creating a workplace culture based on mutual respect and recognition of individual initiative and excellence. The Djuma team has demonstrated that fairness, ethical business practice and environmental respect form a strong basis for sustainable tourism. At Djuma, guests can experience an authentic safari drive and see the big five in their natural environment while staying at one of three luxury game lodges.
BUSH LODGE:
Bush Lodge, a relaxed yet intimate safari lodge, is perfectly situated in the ‘Big 5’ Sabi Sand Game Reserve bordering the world famous Kruger National Park. Morning safaris start early so as not to miss the magic of the African sunrise and the time of day when most animals are active. The safari experience at Bush Lodge is unique... here we do not only concentrate on the ‘Big Five’ and the myriad of other wildlife, but also on the history of the reserve and how the Tsongas once lived on this land alongside the animals.
Bush Lodge is a comfortable family lodge with 8 safaristyle chalets, tucked away in indigenous gardens. The quaint thatched air-conditioned chalets have overhead fans and mosquito nets, telephones, an outdoor sitting area and ensuite bathrooms with showers. The Lodge exudes a distinct warmth and comfort, allowing one to feel right at home.
The central area at Bush Lodge is a unique open thatch and timber building. The upper timber deck offers magnificent views of the surrounding African bushveld, whilst the lounge and bar are the ideal place to discuss the day’s sightings. Set within a small grove of Tamboti trees, the pool offers the perfect retreat for those lazy afternoons. Wonderful meals, from decadent breakfasts to sumptuous dinners, are served either in the dining room, or under the African sky around a roaring fire in the boma. Excellent game viewing, high service standards, delicious cuisine and a warm atmosphere ensure an unforgettable safari.
