Madi a Thavha Mountain Lodge is situated in the scenic Soutpansberg Mountains of Limpopo Province. Madi a Thavha Mountain Lodge pursues a philosophy of empowering staff through skills development and ongoing training in areas such as sewing, craft production, business skills and HIV/Aids awareness, to name a few. They are also dedicated to incorporating local Venda and Tsonga culture into tourism activities; for example, local handmade crafts – including wood carvings as well as textiles made from traditional Venda fabrics – are produced at the workshop on site or sourced from the area, providing market access for local forms of art. The lodge is extensively involved with its surrounding community, in particular through arts and crafts mentoring programmes, while the entire Madi a Thavha team participates in on site environmental education activities and is actively engaged in the removal of alien plants from the property.
