Madi a Thavha Mountain Lodge is situated in the scenic Soutpansberg Mountains of Limpopo Province. This owner-operated lodge offers comfortable accommodation on a working farm where guests enjoy tranquil farm life and impressive views of the natural surroundings from either the stylish guest rooms or the child-friendly self-catering guest house, all of which are situated around the original farm house. Madi a Thavha (meaning ‘water from the mountains’) offers warm hospitality, excellent meals and helpful advice to plan your trips in the northern Limpopo area.

Madi a Thavha Mountain Lodge pursues a philosophy of empowering staff through skills development and ongoing training in areas such as sewing, craft production, business skills and HIV/Aids awareness, to name a few. They are also dedicated to incorporating local Venda and Tsonga culture into tourism activities; for example, local handmade crafts – including wood carvings as well as textiles made from traditional Venda fabrics – are produced at the workshop on site or sourced from the area, providing market access for local forms of art. The lodge is extensively involved with its surrounding community, in particular through arts and crafts mentoring programmes, while the entire Madi a Thavha team participates in on site environmental education activities and is actively engaged in the removal of alien plants from the property.

Madi a Thavha Mountain Lodge’s co-owner, Marcelle Bosch expressed that, “As a fairly new business, FTTSA has helped us to benchmark ourselves against industry best practice. The application and assessment process was very interactive and helped us to improve our operations. Now that we are certified, we expect that the FTTSA Trademark will also boost our marketing efforts.”
