Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa (FTTSA) in conjunction with Green Rhino - Diplomatic Travel Club hosted a ‘Fair Trade’ evening at the Canadian High Commission in Pretoria. The Diplomatic Travel Club runs for the International Diplomats stationed in South Africa, together with their friends, families and colleagues.
The diplomatic evening had a ‘Fair Trade’ theme and was opened by Ambassador Nozipho January-Bardill Director South African Foreign Service Institute, who serves as a Non-Executive Director on the board of FTTSA. She spoke about Transformation and the role of FTTSA in South Africa’s tourism industry.
FTTSA has to date certified twenty-one products that meet the Fair Trade principles, making this an ideal opportunity to introduce the various destinations to the diplomats and encouraged them to contribute by traveling wisely and responsibly to the listed destinations awarded the FTTSA Label.
To compliment the theme Citrusdal Cellars in Western Cape sponsored ‘fair trade’ certified pinotage and chardonnay for tasting and as prizes for the guests. To cap the evening there was a raffle consisting of prizes sponsored by FTTSA-certified clients offering the guests opportunities to visit their destinations within South Africa. |
