FTTSA was short-listed to participate in the Giving Exchange, an initiative linked to the Shuttleworth Foundation, for inclusion in a two-day showcase that was held in Johannesburg in September. We urged our supporters to vote for us to be part of the Giving Exchange - and sure enough Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa (FTTSA) was selected amongst a handful of South African Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) to showcase its work at the Gauteng Giving Exchange. The Giving Exchange took place at Sandton’s Nelson Mandela Square on Friday 16 and 17 September. It was an energetic, sincere gathering of like-minded organisations aiming to capture the attention of corporate social responsibility practitioners and the public at large. In total 63 NPOs were there. According to FTTSA’s Doris Murungu, “it was a fruitful event and we were able to raise awareness about FTTSA, while interacting with other NPOs in the Gauteng area.” To raise more awareness about the Fair Trade concept, we gave out samples of locally produced Thandi Fairtrade wine.
